Start from 70, aim at 20, arrive at 50.

The cue ball goes into the long cushion, changes direction at the short cushion and comes back along the same long cushion. Speed decides the arrival more than anything else, which makes this an extremely delicate shot.

When? When balls 2 and 3 lie near the bottom corner of the long cushion the cue ball will travel along, or close to that same long cushion; and the cue ball has to go first to the right long cushion, then to the top short cushion, and come back along the same long cushion with reverse rotation.

Watch outThe same spin at a different speed means a different arrival. Lock in your speed on the reference position first.

Editor's note · Long cushion, upper zoneIn this example the calculation uses the upper-zone correction (−3.75) and gives 36.25; in the drawing, however, the arrival is in the lower zone (≈6th diamond, −1.25), and the consistent value for that zone would be 38.75.
