z is on the 4th cushion (left long cushion, 5th diamond); transferred to the opposite cushion it becomes x. The x–30 line passes tangent to ball 2, so the aim is 30. The cue ball hits ball 2 with a 5/8 ball fraction, goes from 30 to the left long cushion, the top short cushion and the right long cushion, comes to z and picks up ball 3. Spin: natural, spin 1, above the equator.
System 30 lets you solve long–short–long–long shots and arrivals at the 5th cushion when the balls are almost facing each other. The shot is played firmly, taking a lot of ball 2. Because the familiar paths change a great deal when the force changes a lot, it is very hard to guarantee even a minimum of success with another system in positions like these.
When? When the cue ball and ball 2 are almost facing each other, and after hitting ball 2 the cue ball has to go to the aim cushion (left long cushion), from there to the top short cushion, the right long cushion and back to the left long cushion (4th cushion) or on to the 5th cushion.
