Aim = 5 − 3 = 2.

The cue ball starts in front of the short cushion, aims at the long cushion, takes the opposite short cushion and comes down onto the other long cushion on the 3rd cushion. The basic paths go to the corner, and on these paths the sum of the Start and Aim values is always 4; this is where the system gets its name. As the arrival moves away from the corner, the aim is increased. It can be played as a bricole or taking a ball fraction on ball 2; it is useful for some 3rd-cushion arrivals that cannot be reached with maximum spin.

When? When the long–short–long path is to be played without spin; especially if the 3rd-cushion arrival is in the corner zone.
